The Cardiovascular Technology Program is an AAS degree program. Combining general education core courses, program specific courses, and the clinical practicum prepares students for a career as a Cardiovascular Technologist. The knowledge and skills acquired within the classroom and laboratory setting enhances the learning opportunities for the cardiovascular student.

Upon admission to the CVT Program, students have the option of choosing between the Invasive or Non-invasive Technology programs.

As a Registered Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS), you work side-by-side with cardiologists and physicians to diagnose and treat heart disease. RCIS serves as a member of the cardiac catheterization laboratory team, whose primary role is to help conduct heart catheterizations and similar invasive tests. Upon graduation, an RCIS can work in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization labs.

As a Registered Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCS), you use echocardiograms to diagnose cardiovascular disease. Echocardiograms are performed using ultrasound equipment to gather data about the structure and function of the cardiac chambers, valves, and vessels leading to and from the heart. Upon graduation an RCS can work in a one-on-one setting of a hospital or outpatient facility.

Following the successful completion of the program, students receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to sit for the national registry examination to become a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Registered Non-Invasive Specialist through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
